The following are summaries of each criterion. For more details, see the description of the Supplier Performance Report.

Purchase Activity:  This refers to the total number and dollar amount of Purchase Orders for a supplier relative to all suppliers. .

Variance between PO and Invoice: Sometimes called “invoice error”, this is the difference between the dollar amount of Purchase Orders for the supplier and the amount of the associated invoices.

Late Shipments:  When a Purchase Orders is received after the delivery date specified on the PO.  Since late shipments can sometimes severely affect the operation of your firm, this factor is typically set relatively high.

Early Shipments:  When a Purchase Orders is received before the delivery date specified on the PO.  The receipt of shipments earlier than scheduled may be considered detrimental as you may not have room to properly store the items. In addition, you may have to pay for the items earlier than expected, which may have cash flow implications.

Poor Quality:  The total dollar amount of unacceptable items returned to a supplier and recorded in Record Poor Quality for Supplier Performance.

Canceled POs (supplier’s fault):  Canceled POs will only go against a supplier’s performance if so indicated when the PO is canceled.
