PURCHASING > Setup system > Barcode > Configure barcode label layout
This is used to configure SpendMap based on your barcode label printer(s) and the type of barcode labels that you use.
If you use more than one type of barcode label printer, you can create multiple label layouts/configurations, one for each printer type. You can then select which label layout to use for each area of the system in Barcode Label Printing Options.
For more information, see Barcode Module Overview and Printing Barcode Labels.
Generally, there are two types/categories of barcode printers and labels. Either you can use standard label sheets (typically 8.5” X 11” with 30 or so labels per page) and use a standard laser printer or you can use a dedicated barcode label printer with continuous feed labels (i.e. in a roll). If you will be printing a large quantity of barcode labels, a dedicated barcode label printer is recommended.
So you might use multiple layouts if, for example, you have a dedicated barcode printer at your receiving dock due to the high volume of labels being printed but you may use a standard printer with single sheet labels for assets due to the lower volume.
Again, this is just an example. There may be other factors that affect your choice of printer and labels.
