The Asset Management Module doesn't need to be enabled (it's always turned on). Just start adding assets to the system when you're ready.
Adding Assets to the System
Assets details can be entered directly into the Asset Master File, you can import your assets, or asset can be added to the Asset Master File as Purchase Orders for assets are received.

Prerequisites
While it's technically not mandatory, it would be unusual to use the Asset Module without first implementing the Purchasing Module and the Receiving Module. Again, it is quite common to create a Purchase Order for a new asset and then receive against the PO in order to add the asset to the system.
