PURCHASING > Reports > Master file update log
This report lists changes (add, edit, delete, rename) made to Master Files, including the date, time and User ID that made the changes.
This report is typically used for one of two purposes, either 1) for a manager to audit/review changes to master files (typically in a environment where multiple users are making changes to the master file), or 2) to simplify synchronization of master files with other systems.
For more information, see About Master Files.
This report tracks changes that are made to Master Files within SpendMap itself. If you import Master File data, the changes will not be tracked here.
Also, only changes to the Master File’s primary database table are tracked but not changes that are stored in secondary tables. For example, price break information and inventory location-specific information for items in the Item Master File are stored in secondary tables and so changes to that information is not tracked.
In general, fields that are not tracked are those that include multiple entries for the applicable record in the Master File (e.g. you can assign many price breaks for a single item).
Therefore, before you rely on the information on this report, please test the applicable field to ensure that it is being tracked to your satisfaction.
