SpendMap User Guide (v15)

PURCHASING > Utility > e-mail and internal messaging > e-mail log > Local/Server e-mail error log

The E-mail Error Log is used to manage outgoing e-mail messages that are generated by SpendMap but that could not be sent successfully.

To view a list of successfully sent e-mails, see Sent E-mail Log.

If an error occurs when attempting to connect to your outgoing MAPI or SMTP mail server, the message will be saved here automatically and a mailbox with a red "X" will be displayed in the bottom left corner of the Main Menu...

NOTE: This applies when SpendMap is not able to successfully connect to the outgoing MAPI or SMTP mail server (e.g. connect error, transmission error, etc.), not things like invalid e-mail addresses.  If SpendMap is able to pass the message to the outgoing mail server but the mail server is then not able to send the message, the mail server would typically send an "undeliverable mail" message back to the sender.

With this utility, you can view the details of why the messages could not be sent, then you can delete or attempt to re-send the failed messages.

There are two menus to access the Error Log, “local” and “server”. Your choice will depend on how the e-mail components were installed. Please see the applicable installation instructions or speak with your System Administrator.
