SpendMap User Guide (v15)

PURCHASING > Setup system > Mobile Web App (e-Series) > Browser configuration

These settings are used to adjust the appearance of the Mobile Web App HTML pages based on your specific browser and version.

If you are happy with the appearance of the screens/pages in the Mobile Web App, there is no need to adjust these settings.

The HTML language (used for the Mobile Web App presentation layer) is open to interpretation by each browser with respect to the way that the HTML code is displayed. While any browser can be used with the Mobile Web App, the HTML pages may not look exactly the same from browser-to-browser or version-to-version. Specifically, the width of the fields seems to be what varies most.

Therefore, this utility can be used to fine tune the field widths generated by the Mobile Web App for your browser and version. If you find the fields in the Mobile Web App are too narrow (i.e. data cannot be fully displayed and requires horizontal scrolling within the field) or are too wide (i.e. fields extend beyond the visual screen area), you can adjust the field widths for the specific browser and version that you are using.

When Updating Your System

The Mobile Web App will be continuously tested and adjusted for the current version of popular web browsers. Therefore, anytime you receive an update for SpendMap, it is possible that the default values for field widths will have changed because of a new release. As a result, you should establish a procedure of verifying the Mobile Web App pages with your current browser when you upgrade your system.

Browser Configuration Summary Screen

If you use more than one browser for which adjustments are needed, you can add multiple entries to this utility.

However, only add entries if you are not satisfied with the width of the fields in the Mobile Web App. If the field widths are acceptable, you do not need to add items here. For each entry that is added, system performance will be slightly affected.

Each entry must uniquely identify your browser (and optionally, version).
